I have the honour to refer to your savingrans No. 704 of 14th July and No. 1310 of 28th December, 1950, and now forward six copies of the Report of the Dangerous Goods Committee and two copies of the draft Regulations. This Report is now receiving the consideration of Govern- ment and further copies of the Regulations will be sent to you when printed.

I regret that copies of Appendix XII to the draft Regulations, which shows the proposed labels in colour, are not available, but they are identical, with Chinese characters added, with the labels proposed by the Departmental Committee appointed by the Minister of Trans- port to consider the existing rules governing the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Explosives in Ships.

I take this opportunity to request that an expression of the appreciation of this Government may be conveyed to the officials of the Ministry of Transport and, in particular, to Mr. E. F. Callow, M.B.E., Secretary of the Committee, for the ready assistance which they rendered to the Hong Kong Dangerous Goods Committee.
